Deal Story

BigMeech closed Amazon for $130k

New logo win, very intense legal process. This was a classic build vs buy scenario so there was a very in depth evaluation and approval process. Had to work with our champion to build a very strong case why buying off the shelf would ultimately save $$ down the line rather than maintaining some junk they throw together (you would be surprised how bad some of their internal homegrown systems actually are). Total cycle length was roughly 8 months, land deal which set me up for the largest deal in company history hopefully coming in Q4 this year!

Great work Meech!

I have sold to Amazon before and still have PTSD from the legal process. At one point they were saying that they wouldn't sign a contract and that their PO was a sign of their legal intent.ย

After we agreed to sign a contract, it took months, so anyone selling to them deserves a cold beer as a celebration!!ย

Homegrown tools end up rusting pretty fast due to poor upkeep (no dedicated CS, Engineering teams). Nice job getting them to realize that!

Congrats! Question: what methodology did you use for this? I typically like to talk about the cost of doing nothing when Iโ€™m trying to replace a piece of legacy software, would love to get some insight as to how you pulled off this one.

This one was a productivity play. Their homegrown tech was failing and had feature gaps that they had to spend months writing stop gap solutions for. We could do it out of the box. So the main value prop was "why spend months/years trying to build and maintain something when you can get it off the shelf today". Obviously ROI is part of it, but its Amazon. They have more money than they know what to do with, so budget is no issue. Yes, we did save them the cost of paying devs to build and maintain, but that alone would not have got it done.

Great win!ย  I've sold to Amazon in the distant past, and they are tricky.ย  ย They used our software for a few years while they built their own.ย  ย I feel lucky to have gotten what I did out of them.
