Booking meetings through cold outreach as a VP

Most of my job is interpreting reports, analytical reasoning and 8 hours of bullshit zoom meetings with a bunch of chair moisteners (executives who do fuck all), so I'll normally try and join the SDR team a few times a week and go call for call booking meetings because it's a welcome change from the above. It got me thinking, do we have any VPs (or senior managers) who refuse to jump on the phones with the SDRs? If so, I'd love to hear why.

Context: I love what I do. Some parts of the job are obviously more fun than others.

No marketing, mayo isn't an MQL
Nothing turns a team more against management than when they're a pillow princess or express that they're too good to get down and dirty.

Know your roots.

I dont think anything creates more buy in with new (and ever tenured) AEs and SDRs than their higher ups getting in the trenches. Im all for it.

You better be good though cuz when we do it, all eyes are on us

It’s pretty helpful when a VP can drop a note or call. Helps the prospect feel like there’s executive alignment. Good on you.

Besides being a huge boost to the team, I also think it's essential as a leader to get down in the trenches and see what it's like. The only way to improve things sometimes is to experience them yourself.

Keep doing what you are doing!

Having a leader who will jump in and call alongside you is a huge boost to the sales team, just showing they don't have an armchair quarterback.
The worst is someone who tries to micromanage you but never does any sales work themselves.

Tend to join in a day or so during shark weeks but my team also know that they can you ‘use’ me for an ‘executive touch point’ - bring the altitude as Corporate Cardone says

I always find myself joining calls 2-3 times a week where my calendar will allow. I am also known to randomly prospect via email. Tough to break old habits 😆
