Education on the client side.

Especially selling into the "even keel" type customer.

I second that. Selling tech is great value for the customer but they need to train their staff to be able to use the services properly.

Competitors that lowball.

Lots of clients in my industry use a brokerage to purchase our product (employee benefits,) and there is often a personal connection that spans years that can be very difficult to break.

I totally agree with you. I am in the same space too facing similar challenge. Have you seen people buying inferior products just because they've a personal connection there?

Are you in Canada by any chance?ย

And yes, absolutely. It's prob the most irritating part of my job. I've seen countless organizations get absolutely fucked on rates or gave vastly inferior plans compared to industry standard because their broker goes golfing with the owner twice a year.... Really unfortunate, especially because I deal with a lot of charities and nonprofits.ย

I am not in Canada but I do work in US market. Trying to get in CA but got no connections there.

And I totally feel you. That's why building a personal network is very imperative in BD roles. That's what I'm focusing on tooย

Keeping up with my company's product set, so many different offerings and technologies just under my umbrella, and I am not the most techy guy

I feel you. But I guess that's a company's challenge since they're not focused. When you do too many things at once, you don't do them all correct
