Brand New Territory Advice

Fellow Savages,

Who has advice, tips, or tricks for operating in a brand new territory? You are the first for your company in this geography.

This is the situation I am in. As July comes to an end, we are roughly 60% through the calendar year, and I am 1/3 of the way to my quota. It is a bit arbitrary and not being held against me considering I am the first in the region, but GODDAMN DO I WANNA HIT IT.

I'm interested to hear your stories, friend's stories, and advice. And to anybody out there new to their role or geography, hats off to you 🎩.

Cheers 🍻

P.S. change the emoji for "advice" tags, its too low energy.

Make sure the company provides you with the right tools to find leads (linkedin, zoominfo, etc). Marketing needs to be on point and target those areas accordingly. If you are going to be doing the first cold calls or have a bdr spend a few days scoping your vertical and finding the right people to contact and not waste cycles. Going after a new territory with no direction sucks. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

Find force multipliers in technology. New territory is like panning for gold. The more ground you can cover with the less manual labor, the better. Keep up the good work!

I think it really depends on your industry, but either way you should be leveraging relationships, social proof, and networking like a crazy person to prospect and get infront of everyone.

I'd take the approach of - you've done well in previous ones - use the same tactic in this one, if it doesn't work, find a new way through trial and error and see what works. I am currently also in the same boat. Brought in two new BDRs and split the territories/industries up randomly and I have been dealt the worst ones...we had the opp to barter but as the experienced one I let them go with it...wish I never did! They trickle through though!
