Bravado newb has some shit to say about Bravado *Updated*

Original post below in bold starting with maybe. After this post got some attention from the ownership to the point where @sahil and two of his product managers jumped on a call with me to talk about many of the things mentioned in the post weeks ago, I present to you the here and now.

Absolutely nothing has happened. No follow up, no updates, no nothing. This guy even snubs my LinkedIn connection request.

This is the first time I have been on this thing in weeks, and this is only because I still had a chrome tab open to Bravado and thought I should tap out this update to share that info.

From what and why I originally posted this to not seeing any urgency on the part of ownership to improve this platform with all of his VC playdoh...

For these reasons I am out. Sayonara to the grinders and the animals, and to those professionals who are keeping it real and doing us justice in the profession.

Maybe this will get me kicked off the island, maybe it won't.

First, the obvious (at least to my thinking). What the fuck would I actually have to do to earn 100k points for a Rolex I don't even want, which is currently the top item in the prize bag here. Prizes could be a lot more creative and compelling, and points easier to earn.

After all, one core piece of the financial value of this platform is the data around how many users are on it and how much time they spend on it. For the 10 or so hours of time I have spent setting up a profile, posting and offering feedback, I now have a whopping 89 points. This would earn me a calendar or a coffee mug...

Also, I have been on this platform for a couple weeks now, and while I enjoy the war room with the characters, actual value in posts, and the insightful and funny feedback, I find the core purpose of the platform, which is why I actually signed up and jumped on, is not really driving a lot of value thus far.

Trying not to sound dbaggy, but I am a seasoned and experienced executive sales type with resume titles ranging from SAE, to VP to Founder. After the first 3 not very good fit "employer connections" or whatever the hell they are called on here, I got bupkus.

I have no information on who is looking at my profile, no contact requests, no new potential employers coming down the feedline, nothing. Not to be a dick, but if someone like me is not getting action, then there is a fundamental flaw in the core value and actual purpose of the platform.

You mean you joined an anonymous online forum and it isn't meeting your expectations?ย

Welcome to the club. WR is just a place to talk shit and occasionally learn something new. If you were hoping it would be anything more than that, reset your expectations unfortunately.ย

Moreover, the war room (i.e. this board) isn't really connected to the jobs product.

If you've got a bone to pick with jobs I'd take it up with @sahilย

No offense, but the core of Bravado is not the war room, it is a recruitment app. I love the war room, read the post.ย

I get that there are two sides of the platform. Post is about the Bravado platform as a whole and the business model underneath.ย

Is your complaint that the jobs platform sucks or that the forum isnt bringing much value to you?

Ill probably agree either way, just curious.ย

Not so much a complaint as an observation. My true goal is to help what I think is a platform with a lot of potential iron out the kinks so its intended purpose is actualized and drives more value to its users.ย

Yeah sorry but when I first joined this app, the recruiting shit didnโ€™t exist so sorry but I think the WR is the core of this. Also I agree the jobs portion of this app is garbage. But yeah take it up with those guys. I think the 2 parts of this app are very disconnected. So while Iโ€™m disagreeing with you Iโ€™m also very much agreeing with you. Hope that helps!

Just wait till Sahil installs the eye tracking component that earns 1 commission point per 10 seconds you stare at the screen while bravado is open.

This is great feedback - would love to schedule a call with you to learn more about your expectations / how we can do a better job. We have a new product manager (Emil) for the WR and our current PM for jobs (Hayley) would love to get on a call to hear your feedback.

I'll email you directly @Oldskoolย - thank you for sharing your POV and we'll try to do better.

@sahilย as I replied to an earlier comment, my goal with this post is to improve a platform that I see as having a lot of potential. I really respect and appreciate the fact that you have replied personally and invited me to share feedback. Will look for and respond to that email.ย

Blow it up
Honestly I read the first part and was like "Who is this asshole who just wants free shit?" but as I kept reading I realised I'm in the same boat.

I was sold this platform as a way to connect with other sales leaders, share insights, find killer jobs and network. So far I've found a was great but is now dying forum, people getting banned for self-IDing, promised yet still missing features, emails to my employee email address, and a job system that isn't intersted in me because although I've closed over $60m in 2.5 years, I'm not in SaaS...

Last September I hit up Sahil on LI and got redirected back to the job board. I'm at 96% profile completion, in the 100th percentile of my location, industry, and segment, yet I see no interested employers. I mean common, even those random LI recruiters give you some feedback once in a while...

Thinking about all the data they now have on my customers and deals with zero feedback on hiring interest paired with the absolute nosedive in content has me on the edge of sanitizing my profile and leaving.

Fuckin A bro. As I keep repeating, my goal here is not to criticize a nascent platform getting its footing, but to observe and report so that improvements can be made for the betterment of its participants and the ownership of Bravado.ย

I get the idea you want to improve it, and I'm with you as I don't want this to die.

I think the WR was awesome, sounds like you were not here a year ago when the posts were engaging and not the same questions over and over. Back when then they vetted who got in we had actual meaningful discussions and saw features that were promised actually arrive.

Do you not want me to vent my own experience and how I think this platform should support sales professionals that are not just in SaaS?

The platform WAS good and HAD footing, but has since gone downhill. The main issue I see is too much time and effort going into other areas that I and many others have yet to see any benefit from.

I wish they had billed this as what it is: a pool of SaaS reps, from the get-go, then maybe I would have managed my expectations.

I was definitely not here a year ago, I have only been on this platform for roughly two weeks. I have invested enough of my time, and see the potential value, and therefore want to make it better.ย

War room should be for sales in any field, and I am so sick of hearing about fucking SaaS. Product is product, service is service and sales remains the same. I still don't get why everyone makes such a big deal about SaaS...ย

Im in SaaS and totally agree. Ive been around for probably 18 months now and would like to think I have contributed a fair amount of quality content here, BUT im finding it harder and harder to engage.ย

I come and go, some weeks I will spend 10 hours here, others 0. My main struggle comes from 2 places.

1) Utter lack of investment in the platform. I totally understand that the WR is not the money maker for Bravado, but give us some simple shit like DMs, sticky threads, and forum sections. Every other forum I participate in has these things and it helps create a more organized and thoughtful discussion.

2) There needs to be a way to create new, thoughtful discussions around sales as a whole, not just SaaS (or make it more known that this is a SaaS only space). Idk the solution here but id rather not answer another post evaluating 2 job opportunities.ย

@UrAssIsSaaSย It already gives me hope that people like you are on here with the cerebral firepower to craft such a thoughtful response. WR is actually a huge piece of the financial value for ownership, because traffic and time on site data are directly factored into valuation numbers when owners go to exit these types of platforms via acquisition or IPO.ย

I calculated that at my current rate it would take me ~8-10 years to earn the Rolex (which I don't want either).

the commish piece is set up to be farmed and abused. You either create a bunch of junk posts and polls to earn a lot, or you sit back, make some comments, and never get anything from the store. Its honestly pretty lame. I get the logic behind it was to encourage engagement but really all it does is encourage posting nonsensical garbage. Like this comment. I probably wouldn't have left a comment on this post normally, but its a chance for me to earn some commish for the store so why not share my irrelevant 2 cents.ย

As far as the never being contacted thing - there is no DM feature on here. Which in my opinion is the biggest flaw of the platform. We could easily drive way more engagement and help each other out way more if we could take the convo private to give out more details that we don't necessarily want blasted out.ย
