I worked on selling to a core facility at a research institute months back (basically a facility in the institute that will rent very expensive equipment by the hour to resident laboratories). I put all my energy into it, working overtime, developing rock-solid reports and justifications from core facility users...just for the manager to choose a competitor that he was partial to, despite overwhelming love of my product from the users. Apparently he has a reputation for buying what he wants, against the will of the people.
I promised I'd get a damn system in that institute. Fast forward a few months, and I've finally got a PO from one of the individual labs that loved it so much. I'll see you at installation, my guy.
