Buying my first home! Who do you recommend I use as my lender?

Using my hard earned sales commish on my first place which is a small condo in Southern California. Putting 20% down, perfect credit and will be my primary home. What company do you recommend I get a loan from? :-)

Gong has a mortgage lending program. I'd look into it, they're very helpful and an absolute delight to work with.

They have great customer service, just say their name 3 times and they appear in a puff of smoke.ย

We used a local broker when we bought but it was funded via Supreme lending. Super easy process and we could play hard ball with them some to get exactly what we wanted from the loan. Would work with them again.ย

Was your closing handled by a hypebeast wearing an oversized hoodie and cargo pants?

Broker for sure, they have wholesale rates with multiple banks. Can usually get some customized lending instruments thatโ€™ll allow you to put less down and get a killer rate. Picking just one bank limits your ability. Or be a chonch and call one of the big banks who will string your closing along until you nearly lose the dealโ€ฆfor the lolz

Better.com gave me the lowest rates and qualified me for the highest amount. If you know someone that works there, ask your mortgage officer about the referral program and theyโ€™ll give you an even lower rate. check em out

Does it even matter? ย As long as you use a reputable company you'll find the process goes smooth and the loan may be sold to another company anyway. ย I would hesitate to use a lesser known company for fear of running into issues along the way.

Get the rate you want and don't worry about it.

Iโ€™ve got mortgages with Wells Fargo, Chase, and two with Associated Bank and Mr. Cooper. All four are solid to work with and would recommend.

Go with a local lender in your area. Agents and sellers will like that you are using a lender that is well own in your city/town

I elected to use a local mortgage broker that was not a big bank.

Not only did I get a great rate, but they helped with pre-purchase counseling to help me understand what the impact on my budget would be from different prices / locations of home.

They also had a great network of local inspectors and contractors to help me feel good about my purchase.

On top if this, they closed my loan in less than 2 weeks once I found the right place. Where I live the market is highly competitive, and this pace of closing is very attractive to many sellers.

I highly recommend working with a local shop or bank. Often they are much better partners for your first purchase than some monolithic organization.

Regardless of where the loan originates, your loan is very likely to be packaged up and sold off to another mortgage company for servicing in the first 1 or 2 years of ownership.

Do you have a Costco membership?ย  If so, they have a mortgage marketplace where you can see multiple lender's rates and you can choose who you want to contact you.
