Call cadence: 1x a day too much?

I'm wondering, is calling the same prospects every day for a few days too often? Is it common?

It feels like a lot. I love being aggressive, but I don't want to cross the aggressive line and fall into the annoying category.

What do you guys think?

I think calling every day makes you look desperate and is an easy way to get your number blocked. Twice a week is more than enough imo.

Calling the same person every day is too much. Depends on the product you're selling but I'd advise against daily calling. There's plenty of prospects out there to change it up

I’d say 2x a week at the most, hopefully you’re able to garner responses to emails or something that can help with when you need to reach out next.

I personally feel like it depends on what the overall quality lead of is too. If you are using warm*up leads that have been re-cyclyed then I think having entry level SDRS, BDRs call 1x a day until they can make contact and confirm/validate whatever data points you need - is fine!

If these are QUALIFIED leads I would say a cadence of twice per week (same as funcoupons) with 1-2 punch email after phone call is better. If these are INBOUND - i don't think you need to worry about cadance at all. They called you initially and you're trying to provide a product/service.

** that being said if it's a cell phone, I would argue 1x a week, with an email and maybe a text?? I know texting seems a bit forward but if it is a qualified lead then I think it is okay. Plus depending on the people you are hunting down, they are very busy phone calls aren't always the preference these days.

The same person every day is a bit much but taking a multi threaded approach and calling different people from the company once a day or every other day is okay depending on whether or not they have an extension. If you're getting a gatekeeper it can seem desperate.

Of course as I type this one thing to keep in mind is company size. If it's a small company of 10 to 50 employees, there's a chance they talk and may be like "Omg this Neanderthal keeps calling and leaving messages" "really? me too!".

So having said that I'd say every other day to different contacts within the company is probably fine, maybe not every day.

Double-dials have been pretty successful. Call, but don't leave a voicemail. Call again immediately.

I just got bitched by a lady who thought I did this (really didn’t). She’s like, you don’t have to call me back to back - it’s quite annoying.

2 times a week max, and I (try to) never call at the same time: Monday morning and Thursday afternoon etc. Mix it up a bit

Looks like everyone on this thread has the right idea. 2x a week. Maybe 3, but definitely don't leave a voicemail every time. I maybe leave 2 or 3 voicemails a month tops.

That's way too much, 2x a week is plenty enough to be calling prospects.

One way to think of it is that calling someone everyday will make it a lot easier for them to recognize your number & be less likely to answer. Something that I've seen work well is pairing a phone call with another touch point like an email or LinkedIn note if they don't answer.

Oh boy
I'm in favor of daily calls, but only if you have a number randomizer. If it's the same number calling every day that's definitely a red flag. Randomizers allow a certain amount of anonymity if you're not leaving voicemails and I am happy to make use of this.

Yep too much, how annoying

We're every other day (for 4 days) then every third then forth day over 3 weeks... which as i type this out still feels like a lot

I'm curious for those of you saying 2x a week max - are you also calling other employees at that company or are you picking one contact and calling them 2x a week and then moving on to a different contact after a few weeks of no luck?

Depending on the cadence and the approach you're using. We use a five-day omnichannel approach cadence with four calls included - double dialing morning and afternoon - We use it with prospects that attended certain events so we play very aggressively. It reads as follow:

• Wednesday: 6.30 - 7.00 PM automatic email #1
• Thursday: Morning dial (to follow-up and leverage email #1)
• Friday: LinkedIn and email #2 (no call)
• Monday: Morning Call + Afternoon Call (Follow-up on the email again)
• Tuesday: Final touch

We start on Wednesdays because we've noticed a higher pickup rate on Thursday for this specific LOB. Also, segment data shows that Wednesday is the ideal day to start since you already finished pending things from the past week (Monday) and you feel it's almost over the week.

As I said, it depends on your strategy and lead quality - when you're reaching out to cold prospects it might be too aggressive calling daily.

I know it sounds like that - but this sequence gave us 45%↑ on successful connections (people willing to talk) and 23%↑ closed deals. The main point was to get a hold of those leads especially because they were warm. That's why is so short. Not the secret sauce or the must follow guide, just sharing what worked for my team under specific parameters.

Actually followed something similar to what Jacky outlined, but used it specifically for prospects who we had never had response from. Actually gained interest in certain cases and overall connected with more DMs through the process. This was a short burst though.

Hyper explosive cadence to increase volume and connect rate. How did it go?

Surprisingly well, not something that I personally would incorporate as a normal cadence, but definitely found success in getting connection where there had been none previously.

Not spamming if you’ve targeted the right accounts and have a reason / value you are bringing to the table.

Like you said, not secret sauce, but worked for myself and our team.

I like the point made about not incorporating for a normal cadence. I would feel overwhelmed and annoyed as a prospect.

Once every week in a niche industry with few buys. Once every 2-3 weeks otherwise. I think you need to find more people to call, to be honest.

Direct Cell or Office Phone - no more then 1 and a VM per day. and i wouldn't leave more then the 1 VM a week if necessary maybe a 2nd?

1(800) number (receptionist) - multiple times a day or week , i have not had an issue. Some were actually more helpful and provided alternative numbers or email.

Really depends on what your selling and whos your buyer.

Depends if you connect and the outcome. Sometimes you can saturate the prospect too much. When I feel like I'm pestering someone too much I generally leave them alone for a week and then send a very personalised email.

The way I always see this is, how would you feel if you constantly kept getting called by someone?

If they aren't picking up, I call again straight away. They usually pick up the second call. As @funcoupons said only doing this twice a week is enough

1x day is a lot, but my opinion (would love to get others' thoughts) would be that reaching out 5x in one week week isn't a lot in general, but absolutely feels that way if its an almost mechanised call every day.

Anything you can do to make your prospect feel like you aren't just calling because you have to is good.

As long as you mix the timing up, and you're making it clear in any text, email, LI message or voicemail that you're calling for a legitimate reason* then 5x pieces of varied outreach, staggered over the course of a week goes from needy to urgent pretty seamlessly.

And that way, if they call you out on it: "Some people just prefer varied methods of communication. Just wanted to make sure you didn't miss out", or whatever.

*"I believe I can help with recent company event x"/"I noticed you posted x on LI and we can help you do that"/even the old "A lot of people in your role in similar verticals are struggling with x and if you are too, then we can help" as a few examples

Lol no.. Unless I've got something on the books with them, I do one call on Monday, then a second call on Friday. I may send them an email on Wednesday, but never on the same days.

It’s like any other relationship. If there’s mutual interest, they’ll respond from normal outreach efforts. But if you’re over the top, they’ll avoid. Nobody wants someone who’s needy or clingy. Play it cool and play the field.
