Calling leads that almost bought something online but abandoned the cart

These leads almost bought tickets to an event, but bailed. I have their phone numbers. What do you think I should say to them on a call? I don't want to say, "I saw you almost bought tickets, what's stopping you?"

What does your sales manager think?

I don't really have one right now, just the marketing manager...

I assume this campaign has been done previously and talk to your manager about what type of script or bullet points should be covered to give you the greatest chance to close the business.

It hasn't been done before, this is a new role.

Then I would still go back to your sales manager on this and see what type of approach they may want you to take. That being said, I would guess the more assumptive you can be on the call the better your conversion rate could be. Each of those people had a strong interest in the event to fill their cart but just couldn’t push the order button and now you get to give them a final nudge.

No marketing, mayo isn't an MQL
Yeah to @poweredbycaffeine's point if this ain't the first time they're running the campaign then they should have talking points.

If it is the first time, whoever's idea it was should have talking points.

This is hyper niche.

Just call them and tell them you personally wanted to talk to them regarding the event.

Did Enablement write a guide or talking points?

No, I'm expected to just get on the phones and say whatever 😆

Do you sell event tickets or manage events as well? What aproach did your sales team take in the past calling, drip campaigns on email with urgency etc?

I work for a real estate coaching company and the head guy puts on like 3 events per year. But they have never reached out to these leads that abandoned the cart because they never had someone in a position to call them.

Oh got it. Don't find it an issue to call, I'm sure while signing up they had to go through a consent for calling screen?

Yeah, it's fine that I call them. I'm just wondering what to say so that they'll buy.

Depending upon the number of leads and how many days back they tried booking I would always 2-4 different scripts to see whats working and what's not. Ex. Hey X, saw your transaction with Company for ABC wasn't completed, did you have any issues?

Hey X, saw you have added x nos of ticket in the cart but did not finish the transaction due to busy schedule. Would you like me to process it for you right now over phone, promise it will be done in x minutes.

Will start with something like this.

Absolutlely bro... I work with those same type of people coming off of a webinar funnel. They DO want the tickets, had the courage to click the button and for whatever reason didn't get delivered them. Sell them the dream - "I saw you were about to join us at XYZ Event but something came up on the card, did you want me to hold these for you while we get the payment straightened out?"

The most effective question really is “what’s holding you back from working with us/joining us/getting the results?”

Call me what you want, just sign the damn contract
"We're reaching out to people who were interested in X but ultimately didn't purchase" sounds a lot better.

Thanks, I like that.

I’m going to be honest that would turn me off from doing business with your company, just feels too invasive. Unless there’s a hefty discount…

Even though they put in their phone number?
What about a text?

The method that always gets me for stuff like this is when I get the 'there's only one left' or 'the prices will go up' message. Like when you're booking flights & they tell you there's like one seat left in the price range. I know this doesn't work for everyone but I'm a real sucker for it. So depending on the type of event this is, it could be used

I do that all the time, abandoned carts and declines are viable sales opportunities. Some people need to call their bank, some people have limits on their card...never know

sure, give them a discount i guess. try to seal the deal if you get paid on it.

Has anyone else had a prospect add them to a church donations call list in retaliation for hammering their phone?

is it me or does the outreach.io search bar really blow? i've recently had to start hitting enter twice and it does a terrible job of searching for accounts for the leads page
