Maybe they showcase it to show potential companies they are available? Or maybe to show they are thriving at the new startup they landed? I dunno.
I’m ex Apple, so I have some perspective on this. FAANG and the Silicon Valley cult all love to circle jerk. If you work for any of these companies, it is MUCH easier to score an interview at the others. It also makes it a lot easier to get interviews at smaller companies with SV aspirations. Whether we like it or not, the starpower they provide is great. But, it is super annoying when people make it their whole identity.

I was thinking about the cult thing as well. They all just love to namedrop that’s it.
I've never used it. I can tell you I don't like the idea of being recorded, and I bet a lot of my clients would feel that way as well.
