Can We Talk About How to Use Video While Prospecting?

I've been struggling as of late to figure out a way to effectively incorporate video into prospecting cadences. Vidyard's in emails seem to rarely get opened, but there must be a smarter way to use video as a tool during the prospecting cycle, right? Has anyone had much luck leveraging video via LinkedIn? Further into the sales cycle? Sending on a floppy disk via snail mail?

Do you use video as a part of your prospecting strategy?

I ย can't tell you how many videos I get in my email that I never watch. I think I've only actually opened a handful of them and it's because I had no idea what they were. But now that I'm flooded with them, I never open them and they go right to the trash.

At least the written out emails get a quick glance before hitting the trash.

When you are talking about videos, are you referring to links to things like YouTube or are you getting tons of personalized video messaging as well?

Personalized. Or trying to be personalized. It's all Vidyard and other videos like that.

I think video is an interesting component but trying to use it in cold prospecting I think is a little pointless.ย

The ones I've watched have been followup conversations or we are a ways down the sales process.

IF you can get someone to actually watch them, they can be useful. 30 seconds, tops. And incorporate the video into the rest of the email/message...but so that the email stands alone without it. In other words, make sure the video is complimentary not supplementary.ย

There's also a risk of it maybe hitting a spam filter? But I don't really now about that.ย

That's certainly the big IF.

Exactly...which is why you want your message to provide value, regardless of if they click the video.ย

I always watch the video, but then I think - why would this entice me more than just them mentioning my company in the templated email they'd usually send?ย

I immediately delete without watching when I'm sent videos.ย
