Canadian Savages - Rogers Outage = Snow Day?

All my Canadian Savages on Rogers, what you been doing today!?

Canada has a telecomm oligopoly, so there are only 3 providers of cell/internet services (and a bunch of others running on their networks).

Today, the largest (Rogers) went out nationwide. No internet, no cell phone service, no data. Nobody in Canada can take debit, and many stores/restaurants have just shut down completely plus many banks/ATMs are out of service. Worst of all there has been no ETA so everyone is stuck in limbo, just waiting...

To my fellow Canuck Savages that have been affected - how have you spent your day?

I tried to find somewhere with WiFi that I could work, but resigned myself to walking the dog and buying my wife a birthday gift, plus reading some sales books.

I'm currently sitting next to a grocery store on their network, but my entire company is at a standstill and it's uncomfortable as hell so I'm packing up in a few minutes.

Thank God it's Friday and I didn't have anything too important going on. Just one meeting that my CMO was running, and that didn't happen.

I think it's time for a beer.
