Cars, Gas, etc

-Has anyone noticed how high gas prices have risen? For people travel every single day has it been something that has made to rethink your job?

-With covid-19 ending apparently it is almost impossible to lease or find a new car. This has been a struggle for me recently to find a car to drive since I didn't have to have one in college. anyone else dealing with the same problem?

No, none of us have noticed the gas prices. I drive almost every day. Try and ride my motorcycle when I can to cut down on fuel costs, but it's expensive. It has not made me rethink my job.

The new car issue is due to the chip shortage and supply chain problems. Its not covid ending, it's been like this for about a year now. Can't sell or lease a car you don't have on the lot, so not surprising. Don't buy a new car, or lease a car, those are poor financial decisions.

Used car market is anywhere from 10%-30% over KBB. Gotta keep an eye out for a deal. If it's your first car - reliable, economy, basic unless you need something specific for lifestyle (I need a truck). Honda, Toyota, Hyundai are all making economically viable options.ย

Depends on where you live. In Texas fuel prices are still pretty reasonable.ย

All of my vehicles take premium so I gave up on worrying about gas prices like a decade ago. I drive 1000 - 1500 miles / month between all my rides and it's not a crippling expense. Eating out is still far more costly than fuel.

Also, please don't ever lease a car. That's literally the most expensive way to own a vehicle. Not a good way to spend your hard-earned commish.

Call me what you want, just sign the damn contract
I mean, I remember gas being $4.00+ everywhere in the US at one point. Gas is higher than it was recently but isn't THAT bad.

Do you live in a place where you can take public transit instead of having a car?

@ChunkyButters - nailed the stuff about car prices though

Yes and the prices are just going to keep rising is what I am predicting sadly. My commute is just about an hour and now that I have been going into the office each day again I'm back to refilling the tank once a week. My CRV is pretty good on gas but still pricey as I was used to the low prices and working remotely. Just think of how much money you saved during covid.ย ย
