If it's a generic problem solving case they may be testing your thought processes and reactions.

When I was still alone in the sales team I would always have candidates do a role play. It was by far the best indicator of sales skills. Blew straight past the BS.

having candidates submit an assignment that can be done async and they present to the team later gets the job done with the added benefit that it just scales way better.

Ok I honestly thought they were a thing to screen newly graduated students and people with like less than 2 years xp.

My Experience was:
Case Study to prep for 1 hour followed up with the interview with the hiring manager directly to discuss your results and reasoning.

After this was done regular interview and knowledge/exp etc.

Experience #2 with another company
Had the regular interview on the 1st one.
then they sent me an email with 3 tasks. 1 communication based on how to handle a customer if you gave them your word but suddenly the circumstances don't help you to hold up on your word in an email.
Then another task is solving excel and finding problems. Another is Prioritization

Ideally the exercise would be a real life scenario aimed at assessing how well you know the industry, the value of the company you’re applying to, the target group and where you’re sales skills at.

assessment in silos I think can be manipulated in a way that’s difficult to spot.

Indeed the candidate I agree with that. It's less possible if it's being done online not email and send back. Online you can control the camera if you want, or if the xandidate changes the browser it makes you exit the exam.

A personality test and role play (for a sales role or customer-facing role) to better understand the candidate and their potential. This is more to help design the type of coaching/learning needed to help them be successful and to grow.
A case study, IMO, is more appropriate for executive leadership roles.

I'm sorry but can where I'm from I we don't use Executive as a title so I'm really unaware where they are in terms hierarchy

A role with profit/loss (P&L) responsibility.
Why don't you take the Objective Management Group free assessment for sales candidate screening. It will give you some insights into your sales skills and strengths. It doesn't give you a full report unless you pay extra but at least give you some ideas about your Sales DNA.

That said I support someone's right to decide and choose what's best for them and their health, be it getting or declining the vaccine.

If they are asking you to work on a problem for them for free then awe hell no!

If it's a generic problem solving case they may be testing your thought processes and reactions.

How do you recommend to deal with that?
