Man, I think one thing that's easy to do is over analyze. @MMMGood has some great thoughts, but I just start with talking with people. If there is a good vibe and I want to build the relationship I take more time to talk to them and learn about their experiences and share mine. I think the rest of it comes with the territory if you want to build the relationship.

Yea, it’s easy to use stats or whatever and say ok what’s the best way to do X and only focus on doing those things. When I’m reality I’m a believer that sometimes you just do it.

Empathize. Actually care about their interests and don't feign interest in it. I know Corp made a Linkedin post this morning mocking the question, but actually have a genuine interest in what they did over the weekend.
