Seriously though, if we are talking online chat via your website I just go authentic: "Hey, this is PCB, I'm a real human sitting in X City, let's chat!"
If I just go with a "How can I help?", I usually see that active icon go grey.

I use live chat here and there, depending on the size of the company it can work really well.ย
If using it, my opener is 'I know this is really different to your usual conversations on here but I was hoping you could direct me to someone that deals with X as we do Y' smaller companies generally have someone on the other end that deals with what your enquiring about or can give you an email etc, larger ones don't care and just say email info/sales@
