Chicken & Beer

Found a great new lunch spot with some teammates yesterday. They have great food and a bar with reasonably priced drinks. My question: is it wrong for me to enjoy a fizz or two during lunch?

Sometimes my office has cold beers to enjoy in the afternoon, so I figured it wouldn't be a big deal to have a couple on my lunch break. Curious what the savages think!

Everyday? Don’t
Occasionally on a Friday afternoon? Sure
Colleague in town? Maybe
Customer facing interactions in afternoon? Don’t
Behind on your number? Definitely not

I will say too, since you are a BDR, be wary of drinking near your office. You don’t want a potential future manager seeing you drink during work and remembering that when you go to interview for an AE role.

I think this list should be the end of the conversation. 🔥

If you can still do your job after a few suds, then what's the harm?

You're asking a bunch of sales savages if it's wrong to drink a few beers at lunch...For a salesperson, drinking at lunch is as natural as a nun praying or a dog chasing it's tail in the sun.

The only time you're going to get looked at with distaste is if you can't hold your liquor and come back sloppy and useless.

Agreed. Don't come back to the office hammered. A couple beers during the day ain't no thing, but you have to use discretion when you get back. Everyone comes back cool and it's all good...as soon as "the man" thinks somethings up (usually because someone had a few too many) it causes big problems.

Sounds like 2 beers might be pushing it for him.

Why stop at a couple beers? I say body shots of tequila, chase it all down with a nice whiskey and a line or two of coke before breaks end to get your head right.

My CEO has a pretty open policy about drinking. Fine to have a few beers on a Friday or towards the end of a long day.

He's usually not too happy if we have more than a few.....

I think at the end of the day it's all about how you handle yourself with a buzz.

As long as it won't mess up your game, sure! I'd stick to just one, though.

Friday or Thursday beer lunch is fine. If you have important meetings later I wouldn’t but that’s why I don’t schedule important meetings on Friday afternoons

Sales people are some of the biggest degenerates. Any company drug testing sales people are really limiting their talent pool.
