Choosing between two roles...

I have been interviewing for SDR roles in SaaS and currently have two offers where the roles are a bit different and I need help choosing. Compensation is equal with similar timeline to promotion

Job 1: - Large SaaS eCommerce Fintech Org

- Just received large round of funding

- I would be the first outbound Enterprise SDR

- Industry leading product

- Future promotions into AE, Product, CSM

Job 2: - Private Equity backed SaaS company

- In the CRE space

- More of a Bus Ops role, working directly with CEO to onboard current vendors. So not REALLY selling

- Promotion into Product/Project Management, AE, CSM

Essentially it is a decision of sticking to a traditional outbound SDR role with big sales org, or go more Bus Ops with smaller team and not have the pressure of quota. Same comp plan and benefits both ways

What would you do?

I'd personally go for #1. Only for one reason: You can have massive leverage if you get success fast, since you're the 1st Outbound SDR. It can even be more rewarding as well in the beginning, both from an incentive and a growth standpoint.

well my question would be, do you want to be in sales or project management.

if you want to be in sales, dont take option 2.

there is a better chance that leads to other duties that are not sales related and then if you leave it will be harder to get a better sales job.

option 1 has some risks since you will be the FIRST ent SDR but at least you will get a ton of real sales experience.

oh also make sure you negotiate your salary.

What do you want long term? Think about which of these two will be more likely to open that door!

Curious hit the nail on the head.

But if the long term goal is AE then Iโ€™d go #1. Enterprise SDR is going to be invaluable experience to becoming an AE.

Completely forget this advice if #1 is a series A.

Fintech will Always be around and is fairly recession resistant. Having a big
Name of your resume early on is also a good thing and it makes it easier to get in a door if the prospect already knows the name of your company.

Option 1 looks like the better route.

Option 1 is good if you like to be first, create as you go, be the standard bearer.

Option 2 is good if you like the CEO, if that guy is well connected and a power player, good to learn under him in hopes of becoming 2IC
