I'm almost never a fan of volume, but would suggest it in your case. You might be at that stage where you haven't had a lot of decent conversations on cold calls. You might be hearing a lot of "No" / "Not Interested" / "Phone Bangs" / etc.

Tasting success might help overcome your fear. Success in a cold call at this stage isn't getting a meeting. It's just having a decent conversation.

Like a prospect taking out a minute, to just listen to what you have to say. Or a prospect thanking you for your call, but politely rejecting you. Or a prospect talking to you for a good 5 minutes, regardless of you being able to book them for a meeting.

Aim for having at least 2 to 3 such decent conversations every single day. You'll soon overcome the fear, and then moving to booking meetings with them can be an easy next step.

Thanks for the tag in @curiousfox the man thing is to remember that your call doesnโ€™t matter to the person who answers. You gotta get into a flow and knock out calls because again, falling flat doesnโ€™t matter. You need to make a ton of calls to find progress so just ignore the bad ones. Theyโ€™ll never think of you again. Once you realize that itโ€™s easier to get over the fear and just plow through calls.

Happy Hunting and remember the easiest way to get a rep to take vacation is to ask them to make cold calls, because secretly a ton hate it and fear it. Overcome the fear and hesitation and youโ€™ll rock.

Understand that the phone is 100% just a piece of equipment to put you in front of more people in a shorter amount of time.

Take a few deep breaths before you dial and realize that you are still having a conversation in person but it is just through the phone.

Also I have found standing or walking around when I am calling eases my tensions and I can become more relaxed and have a genuine conversation instead of looking at my computer screen and getting distracted.

you can only learn so may little tricks from videos and whatnot. the most of what you learn is by making the calls yourself and finding your flow.

Cold calling has such a bad wrap because you're almost certainly guaranteed to fail. However, I argue that the absolute worst is cold calling and having to follow a script/prompt which removes your personality completely. That is fucking hell. I don't care what anyone says but I strongly feel that people buy from people. If you are cold calling but the wheeling and dealing aspect of it is completely up to you then take advantage of that and get excited because there are tons of ppl out there that don't work in those conditions. Once you start nailing down some deals, your confidence is going to build, and then you'll get to a point where every time you pick up the phone you feel that the next deal is only a phone call away. Keep trucking OP and remember... "If it is to be... it is through me!"

I don't read many sales books anymore. I recommend listening to 30 minutes to president's club podcast (they have a LOT on cold calling) and following @SADNESSLieutenant sage wisdom

As a SDR you cant base your worth on the result of your call. If you don't set a meeting, that doesnt mean you are bad, but maybe the prospect is not a great fit.

Josh Braun has a lot of stuff on this

You obviously don't have a good script, or at least confidence in the one you use. Having faith in your skills and script will help you overcome fear.

Practice it and understand why it says what it says. Itโ€™s ok to make it your own. But make sure the important parts stay in.

I found preparation is key. If you know the company from your research, you can guess their pains. Lead with relative pain. I donโ€™t go into my calls trying to book a meeting. I try to figure out if thereโ€™s a fit or more information I can gain. Takes the pressure off.

I tell myself to just do it. I donโ€™t care if the answer is yes or no. As long as I made the dials Iโ€™m proud of myself

i would say try to feel comfortable with WHAT you are saying and what questions you want to ask.

once that is second nature then the rest is a bit easier
