Cold Email Replies Dropping?

been doing outbound for 15+ years. recently started using clay.com and personalizethat.ai to personalize my cold emails and stand out. at first, it worked truly awesome—response rates increased from 3-4% to around 7-9%. but lately, even with an insane amount of hyper-personalization (automatically baking in relevant linkedin details, company news references, personalizing the pitch, etc.), those numbers are dipping. i’m getting opens, but responses are way down, and it’s like people are just ignoring these emails more.

anyone else seeing this drop, even with personalized emails? is personalization becoming an old trick? should I stop doing it? or is it just inbox fatigue, or are there new tricks to break through?

Huge drop on my end on both opens and responses but assumed it has more to do with the change of systems ive been using.

Cold email is the fastest channel so anytime something works it gets copied and stops working pretty soon after. 7-9% is great and if you can maintain that you'll be golden but just focus on what works and if you see another channel pick up direct your energy there.
Personalization will always work but even a perfectly hyperpersonalized email that gets missed or finds them at the wrong time will get left.

I agree that personalization will always work. The challenge now is the deluge of AI SDR emails. Channel is a bit saturated.

Yes dropping and everyone is using the personalized emails now so it's less impactful lately. Also, people are jittery with the election upcoming although it really does not make much difference

This has been happening for a very long time. Just gets worse and worse.

I like @poweredbycaffeine 's suggestion on testing without tracking.

Do no open tracking. In fact, no links of any kind in cold outbound, not even your signature.
We send roughly 10k emails a day. We saw material increases in reply rate when we stopped sharing links/trackers.
Although this isn't documented anywhere, the data shows it - you're going to get fingerprinted as a "pattern cold email sender" if you do things like that

I do a lot of cold email and its standard practice to turn off tracking. But also sending no more than 30 emails per day and a max of 90 per domain. Theres more to it like also having email warming setup depending on the software you use? 30 emails sent + 20 warm-emails with 40% open rate.
