I got in the mindset of living paycheck-to-paycheck on my base salary and cramming all my commission into savings and investment. I'd get too stupid with my money otherwise.
Real smart.ย I do the same thing for the most part.
Spent way too much money on an engagement ring. Don't regret the engagement, I do regret the amount I spent on the ring.ย

Little bit of both, I try to save my actual salary and bonuses are my "spending money".ย
It wasn't a big deal because I already accepted an offer for a different job that started months later, but it happened on the day of the company 4th of July party, and I was wearing the most ridiculous American flag T shirt that had a bald eagle tearing through the flag, that I had bought at a gas station that morning.
