Commissions owed

Well, it happened.

employer let me go, terminated me on the spot with no warning and with a BS reason.

I am located in Florida, any tips or tricks to ensure that my commission that is owed is paid?

*edit - there is no clause in the contract/handbook about commissions when terminated

Every commission plan I’ve signed stated I had to be an employee to receive commissions. One employer paid me after I left. Not sure how it works when you’ve been terminated but I’ll assume you won’t see a dime unless they offered severance.

Any reputable company would pay you out on a deal you closed in May the following month, even if you were terminated in June. Since you were an active employee in May I would assume you’d fall under the agreement terms for commission payout. Super shady if that’s not true.

Had the same happen to me. I had the deal number and details saved to my personal PC and I send this to HR telling them to pay me. Took 2months. Got payed

If you have a signed agreement for your commission and they don’t pay you out it is a lawsuit. Did they give you a reason to think you wouldn’t get paid?

Agreement is signed and states my commission but nothing about termination. Other than that my CFO didn’t want to payout for my May commissions and has not mentioned anything about my termination process

Document it and you may want to lawyer up as your company is violating workplace laws if they don’t pay you.

Is there an HR contact you can reach out to? Of course document everything and communicate in writing only. Have you e-mailed to ask for documentation on commissions and when the check will be paid? You can also ask a BS question about COBRA paperwork or anything else related to offboarding to ensure you get an answer.
