Comp Statements

my company is not providing me my commission statement breakdown after I've asked numerous times. all I see in anaplan (anaplan is fucking terrible btw) is a dollar amount, nothing else...

I thought in the state of California they need to be able to provide this to me upon request. is that true? what are the rules/laws surrounding this? I just want some insights here so if this continues I can drop some knowledge on them.

thank you all for the help.

I have had this happen to me at the first company I worked for. I complained and complained until they finally gave me a breakdown. After I received it, I created a calculator and gave it to every new rep coming in that was on my team so that it never happened again.

yea that’s a good idea. everyone around me usually backs down and is afraid to ask but I’ve come too far to backdown at this point

My last company did the same, and it's super frustrating. Best bet is to build a case/explain as to why. A good way to make it not about trust is to say you simply want to be able to plan ahead financially - understanding what's still outstanding is important so you can know what's coming your way and make financial decisions accordingly.

Not sure if it's legally required though

They ought to but I don’t think there is a law about it.

You should be able to figure out your commish though. What did you sell, %, math it. Present it to mngt and they’ll be forced to provide you a statement breakdown.

I did and that’s the problem… their number is significantly off, like 30k off. I ask for the calculation and somehow nobody has it, access to it, just refusing to show me because it’s royally fucked up

go to anyone with the math breakdown and ask where you are wrong.

$30k is something to risk getting fired over IMO.

Don't give up on it! I keep emailing and providing info on my deals. I am kinda in the same boat where I am short like $3.8k. I've sat down with the Comp team in-person before, but just put some time on the calendar to have them walk me through things to explain why the numbers don't line up.

I have had to put all of my deals into a spreadsheet with all of the breakdowns and months paid to see how it lines up. We're using Spiff, which is probably better than Anaplan (I've used Xactly before too). It seems like they all just use a big fat spreadsheet on the backend, so if the data is wrong, it doesn't matter what tool they use to show you the numbers.
