Company just changed everyone's comp structure to pay competitively except Sales. Advice?

Basically the title. I'm a BDR at this Series D startup in SaaS, about to be promoted.

Currently split for XS - SMB AE is 65/60. All internals that have progressed through BDR to AE (over 90% of the sales team) are getting paid this rate. Externals they are hiring for the same role are getting 80/80.

Company announced "quota carriers" are not getting a raise or comp change.

Should I negotiate for higher during promotion?

Should I bite the bullet & just close deals?

Close deals, and look for a new role at the same time.

They should match you with what an external hire gets. Otherwise theyโ€™ll see a mass exodus.

you should always be negotiating during promotion no matter what.ย

but if new hires are getting paid more, I would bring it up for sure.ย

and then start looking to capitalize on the HOT market.ย

You might as well ask for 80/80. Doesn't sound like there's much to loseย

It is always a two way contract; they need to be happy to see you and you need to be happy to be seen.ย  If not, find a better place to spend your time.
