Completing some kind of recruiting project is normal but this feels like slight exploitation?

So a company I'm interviewing for wanted me to complete a project after a couple of interviews.

It does seem a bit odd to me though that they want you to put together a small list of prospects including their contact info as well as some email sequencing and templates.

I understand they need to know you can do these things but this just sounds like I'm doing free lead gen for them. Even if they don't hire me now they have a detailed, albeit short, list of prospects for whoever they do end up hiring.

While it seems sus, it's still a valid assessment of your ability to hunt down the right ICP and find their contact info. I'd push back to say that you're happy to find the names and titles, but you will research the contact info after you receive the offer.

I ended up sending out that response today. We'll see how they take it.

No marketing, mayo isn't an MQL
Sourcing the contact info sounds sus to be honest. The rest is like fine for an SDR task but a bit strange for full cycle.

I would push back on providing contacts - but the rest of the assessment seems legit.

When my company hires we have ppl watch a 30 min demo and then:

1. Send an email to CEO to schedule demo (as if warm lead)
2. Do a 20 min demo of system (whatever they retained)
3. Send follow up email with any questions they couldn't answer on demo/to close/schedule next steps based on how the call went.

This makes sense to me as it covers the bread and butter of being an AE. Which makes me think even more that this was a shady attempt at gaining free leads

They are asking for real information? If so remember you don't work for free.

That's my issue with the situation. They don't just want me to walk through my process to prove my abilities but are expecting me to provide them with actionable leads.

Sounds like free prospecting to me.  I'd push back on that part of the project. As has been mentioned, you don't work for free, and providing them with a tailored list sounds odd.  I'd question their experience in hiring, honestly.

I have ended up spending a day for a useless assessments for one of the companies but later I realised it taught me a lot.

Its a bit strange but this is just a different version of asking someone to prep a demo before a meeting. They are testing your technical capabilities. I would just make sure you can own the leads if you get the role.

Name the company. Someone recently was in here asking similar steps of the interview process. Or, play their game and outsmart them.

Meh, I'd pass on this company. If their number 1 trait is can you find info, I could just buy with ZoomInfo. It means they devalue your skills.

This isn't hard with the right tools. They are just cheap

Has anyone taken any sales training from the Sandler Sales System? My company is putting me through their program right now, and it seems like they say the same thing over and over again...?
