Conferences, worth the money or just marketing? Pre-PostCOVID

This has been a question that is making me think as of late. I feel from experience that conferences have been good to maintain business partners and grow existing business. That being said I didn't see much ROI success in getting new ones when investing in a booth and what not.

However, a better success is going to conferences as a "delegate" towards your target industries but usually I didn't meet the target stakeholder...

How have you tackled conferences?

where will you think it will go?

I used to LOVE conferences. You can get so many face to face interactions with potential customers.

One of my very favorite lead gen tools. I hope they're here to stay, virtual conferences suck.

I loved the travelling mostly the "festival" vibes behind the conference.
I agree web conferences suck if not a waste of time...

I think it's worth the money. You can always get a smaller booth. And/or set-up appointments ahead of time to make it worthwhile.

I think you there is a threshold of investment, you don't want to overspend but you always need to spend something to keep your awareness. I'm pro sending sales team in conferences. However I don't feel the same way in getting a booth and what not.

Some of the largest deals I have won have come from interactions at conferences, or rather at the bar after the keynotes...

We used to get almost a years worth of leads from conferences, but last year when it went online, it was tiny- you can't have the casual conversation over a drink with people online easily, instead it's purely selling.

Cannot wait for them to come back.

The reality is that one place doesn't make your worth. It's not a mark on your character or ability. You just gotta remind yourself of that and keep relationships outside of just one company so that you have options in case something happens.
