Confession Station ... WFH version

I'll start

I had a long hair appointment booked right after lockdown and they were only able to take me in during the day (noon). I didn't want to take the day off so I just blocked my calendar with "fake" meetings so that nobody would bother me...am I going straight to hell or what? (ps I DID make up for the day afterwards though).

now GO....

I take a 15-20 minute power nap every day around 2-3pm. Itโ€™s fantastic and helps me power through the afternoon without depending on caffeine

Let me know how it goes, I love preaching the power nap / eye mask gospel. Other tips are a 15 minutes of reading after a big lunch - puts me right down. And I have a YouTube deep sleep channel I put on every once in a while that puts you into another dimension. Lmk if you need that

SAME. 9-10 is coffee, bed, maybe a podcast while checking emails (and waiting for the caffeine to hit)

I used to do something like that, wake up at around 5 am, go for a run, hit the gym at 6, back at 7.30 and ready to work at 8. Then I injured my back and did the worse thing I could do: I stopped exercising for a whole year. I was never able to get back to that rhythm, and then covid hit us.ย

I think the best thing about WFH is THAT exact flexibility. Been known to workout during the day or run an errand that I wouldnt be able to do if I was in the office...but I also start work earlier and usually work later...

so no hell for you or me or anyone...at least not based on that stuff
Madridgal

exactly - I make up for those hours EASILY during the week. always start earlier and work way too late. my hair needed it lol

I often jump on at 8 AM, respond to urgent emails and whatnot, and then I don't really start until close to 10 AM.

During boring staff meetings, I've played video games with my camera off.

I've taken half days off without asking for permission, and I've been sort of called out for it.

But for context... I've literally never missed quota, and there are days I put in 12 to 14 hours. My motivation waxes and wanes a decent amount. But I get results, so fuck anyone who wants to micromanage me.

And for a little more context, my partner works late nights, so that's when I get all my prospecting and email writing done, and I prefer to work less during the morning to have time with them.

(For those who remember my post about the job that micromanaged me, you can now see why it was such a deal breaker lol.)

I can totally relate on everything lol

More of an evening person though so I often prep emails in the evening/night and click "send later" - i usually set it for 7:40 - 8:10 am so it looks like I'm up hahha) ...and then by the time I wake up at 9:30, I'm already ahead of the game lolย

There are days I have zero motivation or mood to work (and there is nothing urgent happening)...and days where i put in 14 hours and crush everything all at once.

At the end of the day....it should all be about #'s and $$$$'s for the employer

Preface: **I MAKE VERY RESPONSIBLE DECISIONS MOST OF THE TIME. This was not one of them**ย

I went to Cabo over NYE and was having so much fun that mere hours before my flight I said fuck it, I'll start my work year off in Cabo and changed my flight. Woke up still drunk (not in my hotel room!) and confused as to why I was still in Cabo and not home in California.ย

Had to tell my work I was working from my parent's house hence the different backgrounds and then caught an evening flight home...broken, alone, and full of regret. But looking back now was it all worth it...FUCK YES. And January ended up being one of my best months to date this year!

HAHHAHAH this might be one of my favourite ones (mainly because i can relate)

I've extended my weekends several times due to trips / being too hungover the next day .... absolutely NO regrets (and will likely happen again)

oh and yes, I just end up putting in more hours the rest of the week but its always worth it

YOLOOOOOย

Am I the only one who takes off many an afternoon around 2-3, hits happy hours while still moving the mouse or answering slacks/emails?

I've also sat on a call to review legal redlines line by line for 3 hours sitting at the bar top with a rowdy crowd around me drinking a margarita.

WFH is life.

I took a meeting at a rooftop pool last week - meeting was at 3 on a Friday. I wasn't going to waste the whole day just for that.ย

The meeting went great and we are about to close an every bigger deal than I anticipated ( I guess the pool dranks helped me sell) LOL

I vacuum during working hours, and the dishes and all the other stuff needed to do in a household.. feels good to be paid good for stupid vaccuming. The other day I had a call with a colleague, he told me he wonโ€™t turn on the camera because heโ€˜s laying in the bath tube, didnโ€™t matter we still had work done.
