Consultant VS Internal

So I came across this consultant who has a good repo with other clients where he has helped them to get to a few million dollars in sales. One of the company, he has taken them to $50M ARR. As a startup, do you think it'd be a good idea to hire someone like him or should I focus on hiring internally for a little higher price?
