Companies should do this more often with all of the tools that they pay for. Ask if anyone is getting value from it and if the answer is a resounding no, stop paying for the thing.

Bootstrapped companies have a very good hold over their tech stack. They'd not purchase 1 additional license until at least 10 people are asking for it.

Yup, you're a lot more frugal when you're spending your own money. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that nearly 0 of these lay offs are happening at bootstrapped companies because they're usually pretty smart about spending and that includes hiring.

Yep! Every single thing runs on Unit Economics. I think it's good only, given the state of current affairs in tech.

Definitely can slow growth, I agree. The current situation for tech companies is definitely an example of "slow and steady wins the race" as most of the companies that received heavy funding are now drowning in it as they have to justify what they spent and are now making cutbacks. Whereas bootstrapped companies will grow through the recession.

I know people love to hate on Gong because they are annoying on LinkedIn, but I actually really like the platform

Our issue is that gong would tell us every single deal is at risk and it’s a duplicative software to a lot of what salesloft does for us

Salesloft does a lot of what Gong does, gives great analytics too.

We got rid of our video platform for AEs because we all downvoted it.   Saved us some $$!

🤜🏽🤛🏽 Nicely done. Coming from the hardware world, Gong is not a thing and when I learned about it recently I couldn't believe it. 😨

Why didn't you find value in using Gong? I've only used Chorus for call recording and it was abysmal.

Ok, Gong while it can be a “good” tool makes a lot of assumptions about deal forecasts and assumes roles and what influence they have on deals for example every single deal in my teams pipeline is deemed at risk by Gong so that’s not helpful. Also we have salesloft which records our calls as well so it is redundant. Gong is also very expensive for a recording software that doesn’t really give great revenue intelligence in my industry(trucking). So yeah it blows. Grass is always greener and Gong is cringe on LinkedIn which makes this that much sweeter

Thanks for writing this in.  I'm in SAAS logistics and it's hard to forecast deals.

Why abismal?
we use Chorus. I think it's useful to record, transcribe, share, tag etc and get some high level analytics.

deal intelligence and all that crap are useless regardless of the tool
