Cool off period

Client was presented pricing for a renewal of the subscription and took it in a negative way.

Threatened to find a new vendor.

My fault for not setting the stage properly but curious on how long you typically wait before reproaching the topic or perhaps you ignore and pivot to something new before approaching the topic again?

Do NOT ignore that elephant in the room, or it will stomp you to death.

Address it head-on and develop a path forward. Without the renewal squared away you won't have to worry about pivoting to another topic--you'll lose the client and won't have to talk to them again.
