Cool work perk?

I've always thought a bad ass "benefit" or "perk" a company could offer is a rotating "WFH" deal where the company leases or buys properties in different sought after tourist destinations. Furnish and outfit it as WFH housing and then allow employees to book them for a couple weeks at a time.

Maybe that's just me. Hell, maybe there's a decent business opportunity here.

It's airbnb but without the risk of renting to dudes on a bachelor party. Plus two week trips with work are way better than a week long trip at a hotel. You don't have the stress of work waiting for you when you return to the office.

Cool idea, only issue being that working from different states could have different tax implications, which is why a lot of companies don't allow employees to work out of state. I'm not sure if this goes for every state but just something to consider.

Any income earned out of state is a tax problem. Now add in another country and you’re in more complexity. Easy fix is - don’t pay me one check while I’m on perks island. Defer it till I get back and then problem solved. Or pay me a pay period ahead so I can be good to go when I get to perks island for two weeks.

Run it like a salary position. I would venture to guess if one is on vacation in Cabo, ends up in a conference call for a work emergency, their check doesn’t differentiate that interaction as “out-of-state/country”.

I remember an SDR Service company (can't remember the name) who would setup shop in a beautiful off shore location (Philippines, South America, etc.) and hire recent grads to work on location. He paid them a fraction of US market price, but they in essence got to live a full time vacation lifestyle, with cold calling during the day. Can't remember the name of the company for the life of me though.

For me in my opinion the coolest perk that I have is a fund for anything Self Defense. We get 250$ to spend on what we want/need like knives, ammo, firearms, or even self defense classes like jujitsu.

This is a killer idea! It won't work for every company (for many of the reasons listed below). However, there are plenty of companies here in the US who have remote employees all over the country and I can't imagine the logistics of setting this up would be that different. Might even be able to generate a little revenue by offering them up as standard AirBNB spots when they are available!
