This deal was a whirlwind and frankly a nightmare.
I had inherited this deal from a colleague who was leaving. They were ready to sign around 3rd week of July. Then both legal departments got involved...
The client's legal team needed a list of documents related to purchasing and I sent them over. They got back to me 3 weeks later asking for a vendor compliance form that my legal team had to fill out.
I have to navigate the politics of my internal org to try to see who was authorized to fill out that form. I manage to find the right people after 1 week and the internal signer was on PTO. For 2 weeks, he doesn't respond to me or my manager and I am frustrated. I bring in the big guns and go around him to his boss (with my boss's blessing).
I finally get the vendor forms signed internally 5 weeks after 3rd week of July. I send it back. Crickets... until they say "hey, you didn't sign page 4" out of a 9 page document. Seems like my legal team slipped...
Back to the drawing board, I escalate and try to get someone to sign it. Internal politics mean another 2 weeks is dawdled. Around 3rd week of September, I finally get the signature and send it back.
I don't hear anything from them. Call and email multiple times, nothing. Until finally they sign on October 1st... adding insult to injury, it's after the last day of the quarter.
I hope you enjoyed my rant WR team. I am pretty sure that the more than $7k worth of salaries was eaten up in the deal and it's a net negative to my company.
I don't care, I am paid my commission and am eating Chick Fil A instead of McDonalds.
