People look at cover letters?

The last job I got, I didn't even have to submit a resume.

Amen. If the company isn't reaching out to you you're doing it wrong!

That's a good way to think about it!

I hate cover letters. Such a waste of time, similar to uploading your resume to only have to type in everything on the next screen.ย

But keep it short and tailored to the job.ย

Agreed! Cover letters are pointless. The only time I'd see value in a cover letter is if I was hiring a writer.ย

Usually a paragraph, but I think it's worth trying to get creative

I've been doing more QR codes that link to personalized intro videos and have had some good feedback/interviews on those.

No way in hell I'm scanning a random QR code from a stranger.

Straight to the point highlight what your resume can't, the soft skills, the pain points

I haven't written a cover letter since applying for my first job out of college. In the age of LinkedIn and HR using hiring software, they're irrelevant and unnecessary. If you're ambitious reach out to the hiring manager directly.

I like this answer! I will say Iโ€™ve been getting more interviews when Iโ€™ve attached cover letters vs not having them though.ย

I could be wrong. But I use my questions not to impress but to identify potential red flags in the organisation i'm interviewing for.

"What is preventing you from hiring me today." It can come across pushy so be careful how you phase it. It should give you an idea on what they thought of you and what the rest of the process looks like.
