Customer Success?

A lot of companies are building customer success motions to offload some of the more tedious tasks AEs have to do. AEs can then focus on their primary function - selling. On the upside AEs have someone to deal with admin tasks and someone that can help improve a customer’a experience. On the other hand you have someone else talking to your book that can drop the ball and it’s completely out off your hands.

Do you find customer success helps enable sales or is it hindrance?

I have experienced the gamut from very proactive, resourceful CSMs... All the way to CSMs that jeopardize the deal I'm handing off to them. It's a mixed bag.

I love this poll - I think "Customer Success" is such a stupid term for a role that has less maturity and clarity of the execution.

Cliche that raises eyebrows - "Oh look at that gal/guy coming-in to make us successful"  , "(in middle of escalation) Mr. Success help me get this product fixed , isn't my success in your job title?"

Use Customer Success to off-load the tasks that you don't want to deal with because in subscription based models your customers need a soul they can chew and suck - and that my friend is the fact of life!

If you're only comped on the close, then CSMs are great. Pass it and move on.
