Data Privacy Objection with AI products

Sellers..

Are any of you seeing an uptick in customers feeling sketchy using AI products with their company data?

Curious how are you all getting around this beyond the typical: "We are SOC 2 compliant" response.

Is this objection coming up for existing customers now that you've integrated AI into your product, new prospects who don't want to meet because of this concern, or prospects you're losing in cycle because of this? The response to this will be heavily dependent on the context its coming up in

Mostly new prospects. It's about 50/50 split where SOC and all the other certs cure their concerns vs the other side who wants to run it on-prem, in their AWS or Azure accounts.

your only luck here is gonna be based on understanding the actual core of the objection since this seems kind of surface level (not necessarily your fault)

if soc2 and other certs arent enough to placate them understand what the actual concern is that makes them want to run on prem e.g. is it rigid company policy, is it a previous bad experience, is it a misunderstanding of what you do/how you do it because at its core this objection is based on something addressable and if you overcome that you should be able to close or its something they cant/wont move on and you can either accommodate or disqualify them.

Yeah most of its fear about using their private data to train on. If youโ€™re using the OpenAI API they donโ€™t train on your data, but with chatgpt they do.

If you have your own internal training process you can suggest an opt out. If that is possible in your setup.

Our AI runs in a closed system and doesnโ€™t share with any public LLM. Is that the case with yours? If it isnโ€™t, then it is a valid concern for your customers. If it is a closed, secure system, have your product and security team write up a brief for the sales team so you can explain to your customers. Hopefully they will also support you by getting on a call with customers.
