its nice to be on the other end of the spectrum and take someone who is completely inadequate for the job and who, frankly, only got a position because his dad is best friends with the CEO
to adequate, and soon to an overacheiver.
I'm not just getting on a call with him and saying 'why are your dials low why are your emails low getthem up if you want to succeed'
im saying hey man, how the fuck are you, empathizing with him, his situation, actually caring about him and his future.
then getting into the
okay show me how you prospect if you were to send emails right now
seeing the huge gap in process, then immediately implementing a scalable process for him that makes it EASY to hit Kpis while maintaining quality, and strategy.
before he was going into accounts one by one and finding titles one by one to send one off emails
now we made a list of all the 'title's in his name, and he can add those titles to a 'title specific' cadence we created together with emails and calls, he can call and email all of them and pretty much say the exact same thing while still being personalized.
problems came up and I handled them immediately escalating them to the right people, doing what needs to be done and getting him his solution asap. as it should be.
empathy + assertiveness + competence
he is now actually empowered to hit his dials and emails and its because ive been in his situation before and had ass managers that I can be a better manager for him
at the end of the day I can teach him how to say the best shit, email the best, and have EQ and strategy. but if he cant actually systemically work in an organized way to where he is actually empowered to work its fucking pointless and thats what I told him.
i came in and he felt lost and alone he told me and he tells me now he actually likes me and is building confidence in himself and the job and its because he knows I know what the problem is and how to help.
anyways
