# deals per month? Where would you rather work? Daily deals for smaller $ or 1-3 per month for higher ASP?

I’ve worked selling computers and networking equipment closing deals daily and for an insurance company where closing 1-3 deals a month is consider great. Curious to hear what your daily/weekly/monthly success is like and which you prefer to suffer through, I’m mean be successful in?

How many deals do you close monthly?

I sell enterprise software both self-hosted and SaaS,  I can have a few transactional deals but mostly each quarter relies on a single deal.  Last year, I had a single deal account for 70 percent of my quota.

It's a little anxiety inducing having everything hinge on a deal or two but boy when they close.  Those commission check are pretty nice!

Thanks for the reply.  Interesting to hear that SaaS has the same challenge of hero or zero if large deals don’t pan out.

What kind of insurance?

5 a year is considered great in middle market, but it also depends on how big the client. Doing an RFP is extremely time consuming, but the rev is high. If you’re closing lower-mid firms then you need to do more.

Also, bonding is a totally different game. You only get paid when your client actually bids and gets work. They could bid once every two years, or once a month. Obviously job size is also a factor. One client just bid a $26M job, another $160k. 🤷‍♀️

Niche insurance in my case, as a direct seller (not a broker).  There’s no RFP process for us, regardless of the size of the prospect.  That being said, most multinationals are required to go to market and therefore use a broker.  Therein lies the issue as most brokers aren’t familiar with our niche product and try to spreadsheet the underwriting results.

I work for a SaaS company and sell maybe 3-5 deals a month (ACV-$10-60k). I started sales at another company as an SDR which was much smaller deal size and very transactional. I liked the idea of it at the time but now I wonder if people can make good commission with that type of sale?

I’m a bigger fan of the lower velocity, bigger ADS type of sale.

I just don’t enjoy the transactional pace of too closing say daily or whatever.

Call me what you want, just sign the damn contract
I think the most deals I've ever closed in a year was 15 or 16? Much more of a big game hunter now. If I closed 10 in a year now, I would be ecstatic.

Which do you prefer: 9-12 month sales cycle and bigger deals, or 1 month sales cycle and smaller deals?

FEELINGS- Your commission is annual (ARR) but the customer paid monthly (MRR) and if there is a churn in the next few months, the company will deduct by increasing your quota and taking the equivalent amount $$ from your quota in the next month.
