I don't think I've ever met anyone that intended to get into sales

I chose the sales life. Coming out of college I had a job offer as an SDR in SaaS w/ an OTE of 85k or an analyst at an ad agency for 50K. The math made it pretty damn easy to make a decision.

It chose me. I have expensive taste and lofty goals, don't have a PhD or Masters, and although selling drugs is tempting - I like being able to travel internationally, so sales it is.

A bit of both. The world changed instantly out of our control and so did some of our careers. I decided to get trained in sales, find a job, and am starting my first SDR role on Monday.

Nobody chooses the sales life... right? do they?ย  really?ย  I mean, it's a way to make a ton of cash without having to strip I guess...ย

I chose the sales life as I didn't want salary to be dictated. Gave me more control and skin in the game. (Not as much as equity did)

Honestly, sales just fits where I am in life at this time. It gives a more predictable schedule with the ability to grow my income at the same time. Definitely not my long term goal or desire to stay in active sales.ย

Kinda fell into it.ย

Started 2 companies that both floundered and ended up killing them. Was doing essentially biz dev or partnerships to some capacity including setting up a CRM, messaging, created a python script for customized emails (too broke for outreach).ย

Realized I was doing sales and went balls deep. Currently at BDR role #2 in my 19th month.ย

With entrepreneurship, people would tend to look negatively at it as you can be seen as a flight risk.ย
