Different ways to say F.. U.. while managing upwards ?

Being a good citizen of the War Room , I meant, "Fix You" (the way coldplay sings it).

So, I have a boss currently totally tuned out - No interest in being the manager (partly thinks I am hard to manage) and there are many small newbie (easy to manage) people in the team who can keep busy with little patronising behavior.

For last few weeks there has been lot of awkwardness in our conversations and I get the feeling that the team is being divided by this toxic manager.

I like the company and the job too, but waiting for incompetent manager to fall on face of the incompetency... and just trying to ignore everything I can..

How do you deal with it? What are the ways to manage upwards when you don't feel inspired, encouraged, feel insecure?

Most cases, those toxic managers will outlast you and you will just end up being miserable with the hopes of something better happening. I agree with @CuriousFox, start looking for something on the DL

Both fox and ask are right.. You'll probably be waiting a very long time.

Best to start looking elsewhere.

Sales Manager
How big is the company you are in? Can you get close to his superior? Not so you can necessarily just moan or blatantly complain about the douchy manager but maybe approach it as, hey boss, this is my aspirations for the next 3 years, I think you can help me most with this, can I report directly to you? Then that potentially opens a wider conversation in which you can breach the issue of your current managers toxic attitude.

I'd use that approach if you really like and enjoy working at that company apart from the manager and can see yourself being there in a while, If not leave

big fan of this.

if you want anything to change i would suggest talking to them about it.

call it out. tell them how awkward this is and ask if they feel it too. then have an open conversation about how to change it.

this will take some balls but its better than hating your life.

I don't think you need to look for a new job then. Nobody trusts a new manager till they prove themselves. Not the ones below them, not the ones above them.

Try conveying the message to upper management maybe?

At my past position, I worked hard, did my job, and tried not to be concerned about my manager, good or bad. Ultimately, though, it may be in your own best interest to look around and see if you can find something better.
