I don't like the term 'social selling' very much.ย I do know that using social to warm up what would've been a cold call works extraordinarily well.ย  If you're a buyer, and you post relatively consistently, and there's a sales person in your space who offers valuable commentary and other engagement on your posts, you become familiar with them.ย  If they're doing it well, they won't reach out to you until you've had a number of such engagements/interactions with them.ย  Seeing their name and recognizing they know what they're talking about based on their post comments, they're much more familiar than cold cold.ย  For that reason alone, you may be more willing to give them the time of day.ย  The same can be accomplished at scale, by connecting with a large number of your ICP, and then serving them with valuable content/commentary from your perspective. The more conversations around topics that matter to your ICP that you're involved in, the more familiar you become to them.ย  My rule is say smart stuff, as often as possible, as posts/shares and as comments on others' posts/shares-and over time you won't be 'cold' calling, you'll be 'warm calling.'ย  My 2c

I go with kind of the manual marketing funnel afterwards โ€œthis case study/report/white paper/blogโ€ may interest you, and take a few touches that way. Iโ€™ve mentioned it before, but Iโ€™m lucky that our marketing is strong and produces good and relevant content for my product (I fear that our product marketing team is going to get promoted soon and I will lose that, which is neither here nor there...)ย
