Entirely irrelevant. In fact, when doing a highly technical demo, the uglier the better. Way more credible.

FACTS. Too pretty/slick is detrimental here.

IDK the answer to your question but it reminds me of a George Carlin quote: "I never slept with a 10 but I did bang 5 2's

Thanks pal. Well I do have a wife and did lay quite a bit of pipe โ€˜back in my dayโ€™. So I guess I can clean up OK, but I look like a bigass (tall) lumberjack these days. Big beard and wear flannel shirts to demos mostly. Def not trying to impress anybody.

There is a thing called โ€œbeauty premiumโ€.

Some people may choose that but it also depends on when you open your mouth.

All looks and no skills makes Jack a dull Salesperson.

Not saying Iโ€™d hire for looks but the person must be presentable. First impression is crucial.

the first tech company i worked at would ONLY hire attractive ppl for the sales roles. everyone that was hired was a college athlete and clearly fit a specific profile. it was pretty insane.

They ended up getting sued for diversity issues soooo...theres that.

They don't make "better sales people" but they certainly have an advantage.

It can help for B2C and super transactional sales that are done in-person, but otherwise no.

I do think there can often be a correlation between confidence and attractiveness that can help with sales, but it's a tiny piece of the puzzle.

In B2B transactional sales, I found ladies, especially the pretty ones, would book more meetings but people often didn't show up. These guys would just say yes and then ghost.

Probably also depends on what group you sell into. Selling to finance team, looks are probably more helpful. Selling to the tech team, not so much.

Confidence makes you a better salesperson, and I have no data but would imagine attractive/fit people tend to have more confidence, but now always.

Depends what you sell. If youโ€™re in RE then yea. If youโ€™re selling to software engineers, it wonโ€™t matter.

Just dress nice enough so people take you seriously

While I am objectively considered an attractive woman, I acknowledge that attractiveness can be beneficial in securing initial meetings but holds little weight beyond that.

I personally embrace an androgynous business style and opt not to wear makeup, which resonates well with many of the PhD women I collaborate with. What truly matters to them is finding a trustworthy, competent individual who can genuinely assist them in solving their problems.

Although making a positive first impression through attractiveness is possible, it is not the sole factor in establishing, maintaining, and expanding long-term business relationships. In fact, as evidenced by some comments, there is a misconception that attractive individuals may lack technical proficiency, which can be detrimental.
