I haven't had success with inmails so I send a personalized connection request instead.

prospecting on LI is tough in general these days.  Just too much spam and pseudo influencers just looking to gather "followers".  Hard to break through the white noise.

It's either getting worse or LI isn't showing me everyone I'm connected to in my feed. Or both.

Yeah for something like LinkedIn, I'd like to know how their feed algo compares to other social media platforms.  Seems like it should be very different but it's probably not.

I've responded to one in six months of being an SDR Manager.

2 cold emails I've responded to.

I've received ZERO cold calls.

I personally haven't seen much success with inmails. If you're going to prospect on LI, I think best way is to engage with a few of their posts (like, add value, comment, etc). Then once you feel the time is right and trust me you will feel it, just approach them!

With this strategy I've 95% closing rate. One major downside: This shit takes time. A 3-5 weeks before you approach the prospect but surely a great way!

This is the way.

Builds a little rapport and doesn't make the pitch feel too aggressive.

I start with a simple connection request. Typically InMail follows that, otherwise it's very easy to disregard the direct message.

Nope. they suck.  Ask a marketer though and they'll tell you it's the context that makes all the difference.

Yes - I use them all the time in one of two ways:

1. I call out something from their LI profile, I sell marketing software so usually something their stated responsibilities that we help with.

2.  I send a 1 line positioning statement of where I think we can help, and a 1 line proposed impact to the business, then mention to them to check their email inbox for a more detailed message.

if I'm going to get a response, it's from the first one, but I think the second one is a great touchpoint. I have sent the inmail then 5 minutes later get a response to an email sent a day or two in the past.

Big caveat - it depends who you're selling to or trying to reach.  My general rule is to keep it short and to the point and guide them to something of value, typically for me that is the value-packed and researched email I lead with a day or so in advance.

In my experience less and less. They used to. Maybe now LinkedIn is too "spammy"?

They work once in a while for me. Depends on the individual and if they want to help. 60% of the time they work everytime lol

Yes, BUT.. you can also get away with sending regular DMs on LinkedIn. I'd recommend leveraging LinkedIn's voice note feature (Which many people don't use)

Better to know im a paid recipient than someone connecting with me just to immediately sell me. I respond (even if no) to inmails, i unconnect the random connections that connect just to pitch 30 seconds after i connect with them.
