They call me Daddy, Sales Daddy
I’ve seen them get a spiff but not commission, if they even get anything at all.

they say they are, but in all reality no. We're just a pre-ipo company. still have a multi-billion dollar evaluation though

Just accepted opportunity here. If I convert a lead into an opp, my BDR is compensated.

some do some dont.

the good companies will comp you on closed deals but not make it part of your OTE since you dont have ANY control of it.

We pay double what they earned when they scheduled the meeting if it closes. For example, if the meeting scheduled was worth $300, they get an additional $600 when it closes.

This is a great commission structure. Your company is a startup?

Yep! Trying to hit that next stage. I built our GTM team about a year and a half ago.

Do you know the commission they were giving on per appointment scheduled?

I don't. The point I was making though is that sdrs typically don't get a cut off closed deals

I know this is the case at certain very mature tech orgs that have a lot of predictability in their revenue. PagerDuty does this for example. Not common elsewhere.

Depends. I think BDRs should have comp exposure to deals closed in addition to scheduled appointments.

Honestly not sure how my company does it, but I think they should be compensated on demos/meetings that complete and turn into an actual opportunity. My current role is a combo of self sourced and BDR meetings. Nothing worse than a garbage meeting getting thrown on my calendar

I think most companies compensate on qualified leads/meetings booked. However, I think it’s good to give them a small piece or a spiff

In my last SDR role I received a bonus for cold outbound generated opps that closed over a certain value. Every company is different though.
