Do you believe in "best days" to call a Prospect?

Hey Savages,

Curious to know your thoughts on the captioned question and whether it really worked out for you? If yes, how do you generally keep a track of it (if you're are an SMB SDR/AE) as you're loaded with too many prospects?

I am personally not a believer of this but I am excited to read your response.

I don't believe in best days but I do believe there are better times in the day to make productive phone calls.

Statistically Iโ€™ve had more pickups on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and close to none on Mondays. That being said I call the same amount every day and have close various deals on Mondays.ย

Call everyday!!! Block time (few hours) in the early morning/later afternoons when execs are more likely to be at their desks and not putting out daily fires

I mean, about 2/3 of the people I've called today are on vacation and the emails response is that they're on vacation, so today wasn't the greatest, but still made the calls regardless.ย

I used to regularly check Outreach's stats to see when our team was having the most success, and it varied wildly from week to week. I think it's most important to just mix it up every now and then. For a few weeks, call mainly in the morning. Then for the next few weeks, call mainly in the afternoon.

100% yes, but with a caveat. Itโ€™s absolute bullshit when reps talk themselves into believing thereโ€™s a best day to cold call. . Just pick up the damn phone. . That said, in the follow up cycle, yes there will be better and worse days. You get to know the prospect, or the nature of their role and which days might suck, you obviously donโ€™t want to follow up on a proposal 3x a day every day. . Once youโ€™ve started a sales cycle, there are good and bad times, but itโ€™s loose. You canโ€™t be that guy whoโ€™s like โ€œI can only call once every 4 business daysโ€. Epic fail.

Yeah never after Wednesday. No new deals ever happen after Wednesday and always before noon.

"Never" and "always" should not be the sales vocabulary.

Always follow up on your cold emails with a phone call. Never expect a sale to fall in your lap. I mean that was pretty easy. Careful who you listen to. Fortune cookie wisdom gets struck down by experience every day. Our rules are there for a reason. Never hit up a new account cold after a Wednesday. That isnโ€™t changing here. Use Thursday and Friday for meeting days youโ€™ve set previously and to build new lists for the following week.

Yeah. ย Great. ย But if you say "never after Wednesday" and some reps don't have Thursday and Friday appointments then we have a problem. ย

"In most cases" works. ย "As a rule" works. ย "In my experience" works. ย "Most of the time" works. ย

Why? They can build longer lists on Thursday or Friday? if they don't start to fill up their weeks w meetings then they'll never make it past month 3, cause i will always fire them.

We don't want wiggle room, give an inch, they'll take a mile.ย

AE here with SDR support. Still block five hours a week for my own prospecting.ย  Best day to call are whatever days I can fit that five hours around my other meetings.

The best day to call is today. People use "best days to cold call" as an excuse to push off calling because it's not an optimal time for them.

If you use outreach there are ways to check the days people tend to connect more.ย
