Do you care about Gartner/Forrester Position of a company before Interviewing?

This came up from another post I made about how to attract talent. I am honestly curious if you care about Gartner/Forrester position of a company during the cold reach out or interview phase.

Do you consider Forrester/Gartner position of a company before interviewing?

No I don’t care, they are pay to play. But, if they are on the quadrant I drop it in the interview somewhere to stroke their egos a bit. Doesn’t impact my search though.

LOL thanks. *hides under desk* maybe I should just omit this from my LinkedIn template and see how my response rates change.

I think it's a vanity metric.

Big boomer vibes from Gartner magic quadrants.

It's a woozy, it's a wazi, it's fairy dust.

No, and we can't even read the report to figure out if that matters.

Only if they rank in the upper right hand corner in terms of how much La Croix their office carries.

Gartner and Forester are like Yelp reviews online. Take them for a grain of Salt. No decision maker looks at those and says oh that one is in the upper right hand quadrant, I think i'll buy that today.

Yes, people do reference it to see what is available in the market, but I've been at companies who literally combined 2 products in the testing to get a better "rating" from the analyst. Couldnt even sell those products together.

I’ve only worked for start ups so no for me! Not to say it won’t be important going forward. I think it could help if I was looking to switch to a software industry I’m not familiar with

It’s a pay to play. Usually it just means the company has paid $$$ to Gartner or forrester. A bunch of top rated companies are terrible products in my experience. Doesn’t mean anything to me to be honest
