Do you consider recruiting sales?

As someone who has done both I'm going to go with no, closing a deal is way harder then getting someone hired for a role that's already open. What do you all think?

Yeah I am in that same boat too, I feel like most people in recruiting just use that as a jump point for sales.

I think that the business development side of recruiting 100% is sales, but the actual recruiters are not doing sales.

It's definitely sales.  They have to sell the person they are recruiting on the role.  Sell the company on the person they brought in.  Also for Outsourced recruiting, they have to sell businesses on why they are the best firm to work with.

I've considered - but I don't think the amount a top recruiter can make is nearly as high as a top seller. Tempting at times - when there's a bad half/year - but I'd rather have more opportunities to make more than be in a position that's "safer".

man like the youtube negotiations ads, every day you negotiate. So in a way you recruiters are selling you the company but well I think it's different to compare because they can recruit people but you never know how good they are until the notice period is over. On paper you hit your target though so different things.
