Do you ever feel like you are surrounded by well... idiots?

Ok I am currently in an SDR role - this is about my 4th role and I have closed before... I took the role because in the interview I was told I can get into the next position in 6 months and my manager and I have worked together before as SDRs.


Fast forward I am now 5 months in and I have realized I am about the ONLY competent human being in the sales/marketing org since SDR roles into marketing...


My manager has never managed a team of SDRs before and it shows. We had "webinar" sessions over the course of 6 weeks and they didn't want SDR reaching out after each session but to wait until after they all were completed.... (my sdr managers idea lolol) Fast forward it is now 3 weeks after the last webinar and we JUST got the leads ๐Ÿฅฒ


That is just one of the most recent asinine situations that happened. I feel like I am surrounded by idiots that don't know what they are doing. Help!!

I'd agree with your SDR Manager. I have NEVER agreed to a meeting after a webinar, in fact, I probably signed up to get the recording afterwards. You reaching out right after the event is time wasted on both mine and your part that could be spent on hunting down real prospects.

May I ask--how realistic is that 6-month timeline looking? If I've closed in the past then I'd hold out for a closing roll instead of settling for a step backwards.

My last comment: those that think they are the most competent in the group are often the least...and the mistaken confidence for competence more often than not. Be humble, work hard, and the rest will work itself out.

Lol well considering he thinks he only got his role to fill a diversity quota and literally said he didnโ€™t think he was qualified for the role โ€ฆ.. ๐Ÿ˜… and that he needed me to come help him I think Iโ€™m pretty competent and Iโ€™ve actually helped build a successful SDR team (processes and all as an SDR) before at another company I definitely know what Iโ€™m talking about and sorry almost 2 months later to follow up after the first webinarโ€ฆ too long of a window to wait for outreach on something considered warm ๐Ÿ™‚
