Do you feel as though going to Uni/College has helped you achieve where you are today?

I think about this question a lot and for me Uni although not related to what I do now has given me an insight into hard work and that putting in the work can allow me to achieve anything!

Do you feel as though going to Uni/College has helped you achieve where you are today?

Getting a college degree did nothing for my career. Unfortunately without the degree I wouldn’t be where I am today so there’s that but yeah my degree is less useful than toilet paper right now and probably forever

My degree is completely unrelated to my job however if I didn’t do my degree I definitely wouldn’t have exposed myself to the opportunities I have now

it helped me get the job, but hasn't helped me in the job

Yes. I was the first person in my family to graduate with a 4 year degree. I felt, as a woman, it was important to have. I was correct.

Degree did not help me get the job, nor does it help me do my job. However, it has helped me in conversations. Whether it is due to someone else also being an alumni, discussing common courses we took, or common experiences (greek life, sports, etc) - I have found having at least the experience of going to college has been more beneficial than not.

I would not be in the same place at the same job. I would not have met my GF etc. The degree itself helped me a little.

Not really. My degree didn't open up the sales doors for me at all. I don't regret going because it helped me grow personally though.

I don’t think its so much the knowledge that helped me but more the doors that opened from having the diploma

It for sure helped me - I've learned how to effectively communicate when I was in Uni.

It also very much helped me in other social aspects, making friends, talking to strangers at parties, etc. this definitely helped me kick start my sales career

In my humblest of opinions, this question exposes a lot of people and their preconceived notions about the purpose of "higher education".

College is not made to teach you hard skills or make you better at x-y-z job. The true opportunity of college is to evaluate your peers and build a substantial network of quality contacts. Just ask ANYONE who got their MBA, it's all about networking.

For this reason, I am passing forward some top tier advice that I saw the other day. --> Instead of going to college, join a country club. You'll learn more relevant information and gain higher quality contacts than most colleges, and in most cases its more cost effective. Oh and you'll have a chance to work on that shitty golf game of yours as well.

Take it for what you will. If you disagree, it's obviously because you're wrong.

Bateman, out.

If you took sales classes in college, how well did it prepare you? If you didn't take any in college, do you wish you did?
