do you guys, as AEs, make cold calls?

just curious what's going on out there. do you guys rely on SDRs to do this for you, or is it all on you? or maybe you only do so when you feel like it/think it's necessary?

My SDR and I both make calls. I typically target C and VP, they do director and below.

Not a ton. I try to target 5 new people per week. So in a given week I'm adding a handful and making calls to people I've already reached out to.

Man yโ€™all are lucky as some companies require AEs to still put up 100 dials a week

I do, but then: I've never had SDRs.ย

Even if I did though: I don't want to lose my prospecting skillset now though. Took me too long to get good at it hahaha.

My AE counterparts used to make it; but stopped when the SDRs started hitting their numbers. Unfortunately in the past 2 months, neither the SDRs are hitting their numbers nor the AEs are making cold calls.ย

Generally SDR; however, I happily contribute. Generally speaking, SDR targets directors and managers. I target C-Suite, VP (top leadership).

Absolutely! We do not have SDR's and anything the BDR's set goes to management and then sometimes they will send them over to us AE's. But mainly they take the good stuff lol.ย

I think if you want your pocket to look a certain way or your dreams to come true, you need to be in control of what you make, and not depend on anyone else! But I do kinda wish we had SDR's

yeah that sounds a little odd to not have any SDRs at all, & for management (why?) to take those leads

Absolutely, yes. One thing I understood is, I can't always rely on lead influx / SDRs. I got bills to pay.

yes. Its always been that way. When I have an SDR that I work with (like I do now) I set it up like this:ย

I take the lead on identifying WHICH accounts to go after, then he identifies the contacts and we split them up.ย

he does MOST of the heavy lifting probably about 80/20 him and I.ย

I have an SDR who does the majority of cold outreach, however, we have bi weekly meetings strategizing on his outreach for big bets, vertical focused, etc. i also throw him .5%-1% (depending on ACV) under the table if he sets something i closeย

Really comes down to the quality of my relationship with an existing connection if I am reaching into the network (which I do very judiciously and non salesy like) and I write pretty good and my outreach is super personalized and targeted so I get decent response on it.ย

Depends on org, some have reps cold calling at 5-50 calls a day, some depend on inbound but that never lasts when companies scale

This was my quarter at a new gig, and I have an SDR booking for me for the first time. Not going to lie; I donโ€™t dial because the SDRs have been booking so many meetings, and I was busy going through the ramping-up process. Iโ€™ll be dialing starting the next quarter (next week). I promise
