Director of Sales typical handle execution of GTM across sales teams, and VP of Sales will develop the the GTM, and work across the other business units to enable the plan.
If you have a small company both positions are overkill.

We have a VP sales and CRO that looks after everything at a broad level and from directions point of view
No. My company may or may not make me VP. I am not sure if I want that.
I guess the HR would better answer that since they have more awareness about his job description and the main tasks handled for this announced post.
More top down guidance. SDs typically get into the day to day and move things along while VPs help with the alignment to the vision and goals set by upper management
For management where I am there is title inflation.

Titles don't mean much.
But a true VP of Sales probably won't be your friend. Just being honest. They know how to sell themselves and that's about it. Being an SDR you're best play is to just stay under the radar, perform well, and then look for your next gig.

"VP of Sales" is just a title. I know some companies that have individual contributors with the title "VP of Sales", other companies that have multiple "VP of Sales" overseeing different parts of the sales org, and other companies where "VP of Sales" is the highest person in the entire sales org reporting directly to the CEO.
